I was gonna go for an elongated bob yesterday but I chickened out. I did however even out the hair and added some bangs so it actually looks like a style instead of a mass of untamed hair! Onto the dress! I thrifted this a few weeks ago and it was mid-calf length. While I like the longer style, I thought it was a bit much with the busy print, buttons, long sleeves, and attached belt so I hemmed it up. It's a silky material which is soooo comfy but very slippy. Big boobs + slippy material = automatic unbuttoning. So I used the extra material I hemmed off to create a flap all the way down the inside of the buttons. I added a hook and eye between the buttons mid-boob too. I
really don't want the girls escaping! Allow me to demonstrate what happens if my buttons undo... Safety City!!

more suntanning! |
Ohhh your hair looks perdy!! I always chicken out on cutting my hair short haha. I've had too many bad experiences. I love the dress, the pattern and colours are so perfect and I think its halarious that you made a safety flap to keep the girls in. I usually don't have that problem (read:no boobs) but I can imagine it would be an embarassing situatio !

the last picture reminds me of eternal sunshine of a spotless mind! and a lovely dress :)
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great idea to put the flap down the front! And I love the length you hemmed it too. And you are one brave girl to roll around in the snow in a silk dress!
ReplyDeleteOh my friend, I know all too well that large boobs and buttons do not mix! The flap-addition is a great way to rectify this problem! Genius!
ReplyDeleteyour new hair looks fab!
ReplyDeletesummer's hit us here in london and i spent my lunchbreak sunbathing in 23 degree warmth in the garden, so i find it very odd to see you sunbathing in the snow!
i hope spring makes its way to you and your lovely blog soon x
see? exhibit b.. first photo is my fave :) top left blue corner matches your dress! makes for a great balance/ composition :)
ReplyDelete(AND i love that dress haha)
what a pretty dress. :) & i like your hair! but you would have looked lovely in a long bob definitely.
ReplyDeleteX
20 hours away!?! haha BUT you are closer to Banff.. so we are even in my book :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great! The bangs are so cute on you. Good job saving your boobies with the dress excess! I would need excess boobies to save a dress haha.
ReplyDeleteYou make snow look like a warm bed of sand :D
Ok, you're insane for wearing sandals and laying down in the snow, but I TOTALLY support your craziness considering the amazingness that is that last photo. WOWZERS.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! It was so incredibly smart to put a "safety flap" underneath the button! I have that button popping problem all the time!
ReplyDeleteVery clever feature on that dress! And I love your little bag. I always chicken out at the salon too, but I just can't decide if I want long hair on an elegant bob (not that I'd ever be very elegant). So my hair sits in a tangle somewhere between the two....
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! Your outfit in this post is amazing. The blue of the dress is a great color on you. I'm now following!!
ReplyDeleteYour suntanning pose amidst the snow is awesome and I wish I have the guts to pose like that cos I get very cold easily!
ReplyDeleteblue is very nice on you!

Great find on the dress! I love the pattern and the buttons down the front. I also chickened out on a bob recently. I can't do it! I really want to! And I am so impressed that you can lay in the snow. I don't do well with the cold :-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love the silhouette and print of the dress - it's a slam dunk! Secondly, are you seriously rolling around in snow? Because that's impressive indeed.
